We’re Jerry & Kay  Barker

We are a couple of Texans who decided to retire in Mexico and are thoroughly enjoying our life in La Paz. We arrived in La Paz in 2015 after spending 2 years on mainland Mexico.  Jerry has been diving for most of his adult life, so the Sea of Cortez was a major draw card and it hasn’t dissapointed.

We purchased this property in June 2022 and after a few minor improvements, we opened our doors in August 2022 so others can enjoy the beauty of La Paz.

Can I bring my own alcoholic beverages?

Yes. Guests may bring their own alcohol onto our premises. We are very casual here and it has NEVER happened that it has been a problem, however, what will NOT be allowed is loud, violent, or disrespectful behavior around us or our other guests, which drinking alcohol can sometimes cause. It would unfortunately end a guest’s stay with us and the guest’s deposit would be forfeited. We are grateful that we have never had to do that.

Is breakfast provided, and if so, what are the options?

Because our place is a boutique size BnB with only two apartments, we do not have a restaurant, therefore, we are not able to provide breakfast, however, we do have numerous contacts and delivery services offering delicious breakfasts and lunches and they are very reasonable. We would need to know your preferences a week in advance, please, in order to accommodate you. We can send you links for your review or you can contact them personally.

What are the check-in and check-out times?

Check-out is 12:00 pm and Check-in is after 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm

What is the minimum length of stay for a short-term apartment rental?

3 nights

Are utilities included in the rental price?

We Do NOT Charge for utilities on short-term or weekend stays. We DO charge for utilities on Long Term Stays.

Is there a security deposit required, and if so, how much?

50% of the short-term stay is held as a deposit. Long-term guests pay 1 month extra for deposit.

What are some nearby attractions/activities and restaurants to explore during a guest’s stay?

We have an extensive list of all the above. Please ask for it when you make your reservation.

What would be considered a Short Term, Weekend or Long Term rate?
  • Short Term: 3 – 27 days,
  • Weekend: staying only Fri., Sat., and Sun. night,
  • Long Term: 28 days or more
What are the extra fees and taxes?

Other than your security deposit, there are NO EXTRA FEES. We have the Hospitality fee of 4% and the IVA tax of 16% included in the rate. We do offer laundry services (based on how many clothes baskets you have) or maid services (125 pesos per hour), but only if you request them.

Do you offer any special packages or discounts for longer stays?

Yes. We have discounted rates for return guests, on Long-term and for Short-term during Low Season but all is based on High Season and Low Season.

Are pets allowed in the apartment?

Normally pets are not allowed, however, under certain circumstances, pets are allowed only with a deposit and an advance authorization from the owners of Baja Palms.

Is there parking available for guests? If so, is it free or are there additional charges?

We have free, secure, off-street parking for 1 vehicle. There is a fee for additional vehicles.

Do you have Smoking Rooms?

Baja Palms has a NO-SMOKING environment.

Is there a cleaning fee or any additional fees I should be aware of?

No but if you would like maid service, the maid fee is 125 pesos per hour plus tip (50 pesos +/-). You can have our maid clean for you during your stay. Please give us advance notice of 2 or more days. Our Laundry Services are available with good prices plus free pick-up and delivery.

How close is the apartment to public transportation or major attractions?

It is a 6-minute drive to the Malecon or it is a 30-minute walk to the Malecon. Almost everything is minutes from Baja Palms. We also have many door-to-door transportation services available.

Cancellation Policy

When you book a room at the Baja Palms, we reserve and hold that apartment specifically for you . Because we are a small B & B in a resort town where guests tend to book well in advance, it is difficult for us to re-book rooms without adequate notice. WE PROVIDE A CANCELLATION NUMBER. If you do not have a cancellation number, you have not been canceled.

If you book directly through Baja Palms, our booking policy is simple:

ALL PREPAID DEPOSITS to hold your reservation will not be refunded. IF YOU CANCEL 2 WEEKS OR LESS  before your arrival date, you will be charged the full price of the reservation. Please understand this is a standard procedure but also, we are a small, and modestly priced boutique BnB. We have just two apartments, and it is a hardship for us when you cancel. Refunds do not include paid taxes or wire fees. 

Although we believe you will really, really enjoy it here at Baja Palms, if you arrive and are unsatisfied with the accommodation, we will truly do our best to help you find another accommodation, but no refund will be able to be issued.
